Keynote Speakers

We’re thrilled to announce the amazing keynote speakers for the NZLA “Winds of Change” Symposium! Get ready to be inspired and challenged by these leaders in education.

Day One

  • Dr Rae Si‘ilata – Director of Va’atele Education Consulting, brings extensive experience in bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural competency. 
  • Janelle Riki-Waaka – Director of Riki Consultancy, is known for her inspiring and provocative approach, dedicated to improving educational outcomes, especially for tamariki Māori. 
  • Elizabeth Jones – Director of Literacy and Learning at the National Library, works to enhance literacy and learning through initiatives such as the Pūtoi Rito Communities of Readers project. 

Day Two

  • Claire Amos – Principal of Albany Senior High School, has a 25-year career marked by leading change in various schools and educational organisations. 
  • Bex Rose – is a seasoned education leader passionate about empowering educators with the transformative potential of AI. 
  • Sam Gibson – The Warehouse Group, a former teacher, is dedicated to supporting schools and fostering student success. 
  • Steve Smith – Google Education NZ, is passionate about unlocking potential in students and educators, advocating for purposeful technology use in education.
