Checklist of what is required through reading:
Introduction | Introduce your book and author
Give a brief introduction about the book and passage they have chosen (characters, setting, what the story is about story plot) |

Ø Information sent out to schools mid term 2 for consideration and planning purposes. Ø Introduce aspects of competition into literacy programmes Ø Run in school competitions Ø Top 2 go through to competition finals Ø Competition finals in week of International Literacy Day Fri 8th September Ø Prizes awarded to top 3 in each category |
Middle | Have a chosen passage
Read with passion and conviction, choosing a part that has action, emotion, something that hooks your audience |

End | Give a brief conclusion and summary about the story, question the audience
Get people thinking what could happen (without giving away the ending) |
Things to consider
- Choose a book that you are familiar with and have enjoyed
- Choose a passage with few characters in, so you won’t need to change your voice for each character
- Make sure you don’t leave the audience confused about you story
- In your conclusion do you have thought provoking questions to hook in the audience
- Practice Practice Practice ! so that you are confident in reading with expression
What the judges are looking for:
- Clear voice, words pronounced correctly
- Reading with expression and gestures
- Eye contact (audience as well as judges)
