NZLA Privacy Policy

Rationale

The normal operations of NZLA require the collection of personal information, such as when people register for subscriptions, conferences or events or apply for awards or scholarships. Guidelines should be in place for how personal information is used and protected.

Purpose

This statement describes how the NZLA executive collects and uses personal information. 

Guidelines

The NZLA executive collects personal information to:

  • communicate with individuals 
  • enable registration for events or eligibility for awards and other opportunities.
  1. All collected information will be treated as sensitive, including bank information or personal contact details. In some circumstances,such as, applying for scholarships or awards, the NZLA executive will request personal information about teaching.
  2. Personal contact information is only shared within the organisation for communication purposes.
  3. Personal contact information may be kept on file but is not shared outside of the organisation. An option to opt out of communications will always be available. 
  4. Information will not be used by a third party organisation for marketing or other purposes.
  5. The NZLA executive  takes reasonable steps (e.g. locked access and password controls) to secure any personal information held.
  6. NZLA members may request access to their personal information held by NZLA by contacting the NZLA secretary at secretary@nzla.org.nz.

These guidelines form the basis of expectations for all local councils.
